Dr Ramy Makary has been a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist since 2008.
In 2000 he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery with Honours from the University of Cairo. In 2008 he obtained a Master’s Degree in Gastrointestinal, liver and infectious diseases from the University of Cairo. He also has a specialty certificate in Gastroenterology from the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom.
Dr Makary completed his Fellowship at St George Hospital in Sydney and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
Dr Makary has extensive experience in the management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. He is accredited for gastroscopy and colonoscopy by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr Makary’s special interests include:
• Diagnostic and Therapeutic Gastroscopies
• Colonoscopies including Bowel Cancer Screening
• Management of general gastroenterology, biliary and liver diseases.
We are thrilled to welcome Dr Jamal Merei to the esteemed team at GSDH. Dr Merei is a Consultant General Surgeon at Gosford Private Hospital and a VMO at Wyong and Gosford Hospitals.
Dr Merei has completed his Advanced General Surgery training at Royal North Shore Hospital and was awarded the Fellowship degree from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons 2010. Also, he was awarded his MD degree from the University of Melbourne 1999 after completing his research at the Royal children Hospital in Paediatric surgery.
Dr Merei’s practice covers all general surgery fields especially biliary pathology dealing with gall bladder surgeries as well as other laparoscopic procedures. He is accredited with GESA to perform gastroscopies and colonoscopies with or without banding of haemorrhoids.
Also he is interested in bowel surgeries dealing with all bowel cancers. Furthermore, over 99% of his patients requiring hernia repair are done through key hole approach as a day only procedure.
